1. General Rules

Up

a. Posters and media displays must be submitted by members to their respective Chapters for entry into the contest. However, posters in the Professional Design Category are submitted directly to the National Seminar Media Competition Chairperson. Entries must have a security education theme. Integration of the NCMS logo is encouraged. Each Chapter will be limited in the number of entries as explained in the specific rules below. Any entry that has been produced for commercial use and/or is copyrighted will not be accepted except in the Professional Design category and will require a special release.

b. All poster and media display entries must be received fourteen days prior (May 24, 2005) to the opening of the National Seminar. This requirement is new this year.

Posters are to be mailed to:

Tony Ingenito

Northrop Grumman Corp.

Defense Mission Systems

7575 Colshire Dr., MS C1W4

McLean, VA 22102

(703) 556-1771

c. All entries will be on display at the National Seminar. The Chapter Chairs will serve as the judging committee. All Chapter Chairs are eligible to be judges; however, if their chapters have submitted entries, they must indicate their chapters on the ballots and may not vote for any entry from their chapters. The judges will evaluate the posters and media displays on the basis of originality, security message, and graphic concept. The winners in each category will be announced at the National Seminar. First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mention ribbons will be awarded to the winning Chapters for each poster category and media display entry, together with a congratulatory letter signed by the President of NCMS. A People’s Choice Award will also be awarded for the Media Competition.

d. Any poster and media display entries that do not conform to the rules and entry guidelines will be ineligible. If the judges believe that an entry has been submitted in the wrong category, they have the power to re-categorize it. The National Seminar Media Competition Chair-person’s decision is final.

e. A Media Competition Entry Form must accompany all entries. All winning entries become the property of NCMS, and NCMS maintains all publication rights. The winning entries may be reproduced and distributed by NCMS. NCMS reserves the right to modify winning entries. The entry form for the Professional Design Category will specifically include a pledge to continue distribution by the originator on the same terms as before the contest, to preclude price increases as a result of an item winning an NCMS award.

f. Non-winning entries are available for pickup and return at the end of the National Seminar, and may be resubmitted in subsequent media competitions.
